The town of Ubrique spreads along the valley of the Rio Ubrique beneath the knife-edge crag of the Cruz de Tajo. A part of the town lies within the boundaries of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park whilst another part of the town belongs within the Alcornocales Natural Park.

Several kms outside the town on the road towards Benaocaz lie the Roman remains of Ocuri,
which includes substantial remains of dwellings and has fabulous views over the Sierra towards Ubrique. The site is currently still being excavated.

In the 17th century, the first leather factories were set up, continuing the traditional methods of crafting leather goods left behind by the Moslems. Today this industry is the driving force behind the town’s prosperous economy and there are many factory shops selling well known brands of leather goods at reasonable prices.

Other places of interest are; St. Anthony's Church (Iglesia de San Antonio) built in the 17th and 18th centuries, the 17th century Capuchin Convent (Convento de Capuchinos), the 16th century Our Lady's Church (Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la O), St. Peter's Church (Iglesia de San Pedro) built in 1801 and now a public library and the Cardela castle.
